How we create practice materials

Each X-Ray explains a particular model answer to a particular question. It keeps the model answer intact and gives each sentence one focused note about what it contributes.

We use AI-assisted drafting and review workflows. An independent review means a separate reviewer checks the work; it does not mean an official IELTS examiner has assessed it, or that every review is performed by a human.

For new X-Ray releases, our acceptance process requires these checks:

1. Check the source. Confirm the question, the model answer and the right to use the material. For Task 1, check the answer against its actual chart, map or process.
2. Explain every sentence. Keep the original wording and order. Name the specific argument, language or grammar choice that supports each note.
3. Review the teaching. A reviewer separate from the author checks question coverage, accuracy, criterion choice and whether the explanation helps a learner. A rejected version needs correction and another review.
4. Check the published version. Separate technical review checks that the reviewed answer and notes match, and that the breakdown works on desktop and mobile. Changes to the answer or notes require fresh checks.
