How IELTS Master Creates Practice Tests

A public overview of how IELTS Master prepares original practice material without publishing private QA notes.

Our content standard

IELTS Master uses internal format and answer-key checks to keep practice materials consistent, fair, and student-friendly.

Original IELTS Master practice material is written for practice and study; it does not copy released test material.

How Essay X-Ray analysis is created

Each Essay X-Ray begins with an approved IELTS Master sample answer. The published answer remains unchanged while every sentence is mapped to its paragraph role and to the IELTS Writing assessment criterion it demonstrates most clearly.

The analysis covers every sentence in its original order. Each note must refer to the sentence's actual claim, example, structure or language. Generic comments that could be attached to another essay are rejected.

For Writing Task 1, the criteria used are Task Achievement, Coherence and Cohesion, Lexical Resource, and Grammatical Range and Accuracy. For Writing Task 2, Task Response replaces Task Achievement.

Before publication, automated checks confirm that the annotated sentences reconstruct the approved sample exactly. The checks also verify sentence order, paragraph placement, word count, criterion validity and sample-answer integrity. The analysis is then reviewed for prompt alignment, teaching value and originality.

Essay X-Ray is an IELTS Master educational resource. It is not an official IELTS assessment or an official examiner report.
